A film revealing traces of colonial thinking in German modern society. The ensemble “Abok” has a dramatization reading from the African play “Kinjeketile” which is about the Maji Maji Rebellion against German colonialism from 1905 to 1907 in Tanzania. In the light of this, the documentary explores how publicity and media, in general, hide discriminatory affairs in society.
According to Professor Steitniz, coordinator of the Black Americans Network at the University Bielefeld “The Maji Maji Readings” is one such film in which Bacallao proves that an Afro-diasporic perspective might help Germans to understand an often neglected reality: that Germany itself has become an important site of the African diaspora”
