Despite significant social change in Cuba, Blacks continue to be ostracized and subjugated to a colonial perspective. In 1995 a group of creative young people founded a rap festival. Six years later, they were removed and the governmental institution which supposedly had endorsed them, took total control of the hip-hip movement in Cuba, therefore, changing and undermining the movement’s basic intention of social criticism.
Ironically, the boss of that governmental institution is the current Cuban cultural minister and Rodolfo Rensoli after 17 years still tries to take back the festival.
